As a recovered emotional eater, I know when you're in it you fee like there's no way out.
You try everything: making bargains with yourself that if you workout x amount of hours you can have those brownies (yet somehow the gym time doesn’t manage to take away the food guilt).
You tell yourself you’ll just finish this bag of chips, but then you aren’t going to buy them again. Until the next time you’re in the grocery store and they magically find their way into your cart.
You make rules saying you’ll only eat pizza on the weekends, and then eat ¾ of a pie on Friday because you deserve it after such a long, stressful week.
As someone who played that game for years, let me save you some time. The diets, and the rules, and the willpower… they don’t work. At least not for long.
What does work is rewiring your response to stressors. It’s what finally gave me the freedom I have around food, and it’s what can heal your relationship with food too.
In today's episode I'm sharing the full - albeit short lived - love story with #plantainchipbae (IYKYK), the heart break that would have landed me deep in an emotional eating binge in the past, and how I navigated it all without going off the deep end.
Keep in mind, these are the strategies that worked for me... this time. But everyone is different and there are a lot more tools you can turn to depending on your personality, preference, and situation. I share all that and more in the extended episode inside The Club.
